I have to make sure you see this…it was so good.

Last night’s Silicon Valley episode on HBO – “Initial Coin Offering” (season 5, episode 7 if you’re going to hunt it down) – was a masterpiece. Thirty minutes of television that perfectly satirized and distilled this moment in technology (and in time) into a perfect concoction of laughs, insights and cultural touch points.

Written by Clay Tarver and directed by Mike Judge, the series creator, it really hit on so many things and did so in such a flawless way.

Where to begin…

Guilfoyle has a slide deck to convince Richard Hendricks that the best way to fund their startup and take back control from the VCs is to turn their company’s compute credits into a digital currency and sell Pied Piper Coins.

Monica, a friendly VC to the company, asking if they’ve lost their “f***ing minds” and explaining all the benefits that come from having smart financial backers that have nothing to do with the money itself.

Gavin Belson giving a super-Trumpy talk to an audience of North Carolina factory workers and throwing their mayor under the bus for not doing enough to kiss his ass and bring them jobs.

Jared falling in love with an AI robot and talking to her all night.

Dinesh dealing with Tesla’s customer service and being informed of a wait time for his new car of “a few years.”

Russ Hanneman’s disastrous result after taking 36 of his companies public in the form of ICOs and losing a billion dollars, as well as his crypto currency wallet in a pair of artfully ripped jeans that his maid threw away.

It’s all there. And so much more. You have to find it and watch it. You should be watching the whole show anyway.
